Construction: This pattern is worked flat, knitting bottom up and shaping the crown with decreases. The ribbed edges of the bonnet are worked from picked up stitches that are knit in a 2x2 rib with an I-cord bind off. The bottom rib incorporates eyelets which are used to weave in the i-cord ribbon. The ribbon motif is added at the end using a duplicate stitch.

Sizes: One Size - Adult

Measurements: Height = 29cm (11.5”)Width = 20cm(8”) measured flat.

Gauge: 20 sts x 28 rows = 10x10 cm (4 x4 “) using 4mm needles.

Materials: 100g Drops Lima (50g = 100m, 110 yds) + scrap yarn in contrasting color for desired duplicate stitch pattern.
Colorway used in bonnet sample: Quarry Grey 8465 / Dark Grey Mix 0519. Colorway used in duplicate stitch: Petrol 0701 / Grey Mix 9015.

Needles: 4mm (US6) circular needles / 40cm (16”) and 3.5 mm (US4) circular needles / 40cm (60”). (This pattern does not require knitting in the round so straight needles can also be used. The circular needles are helpful in making the i-cord ribbon. If you don’t have circular needles you may also use DPNS.)

Notions: Tapestry needle.
