The dress is knitted top down. You can choose what length you want to knit it- Mini, Midi or Maxi. The big advantage of working top down is that you can adjust the length of the sleeves and dress length to suit your needs, so you can stop knitting when you think it’s enough.
Would you guess that the Ribby Swing Dress is knitted using “Sock Yarn”? Just because something is labelled “Sock Yarn”, doesn’t mean you have to make socks! It’s also fabulous for knitting dresses. Definitely you can choose your preferred yarn: silk, cotton, wool blend…
For this top down, seamless dress, you begin with the neck. As this dress is designed with a turtleneck neckline, it is very easy to start. No any shaping, no any short rows. Ready, steady, go!
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate. MATERIALS REQUIRED:
• 8(10) x 100g balls 3360(4200) m or 3675(8593) yds using Rico Design Superba Cotton Stretch PRINT Superwash 005 colour yarn.
• 1Circular needle 3.50mm x length 50cm (US 4).
• 1 Circular needle 3.50mm x length 100cm (US 4).
• 1 Tapestry needle.
• 1 Stitch Marker.
• 2 Stitch holders.
NB Needle size is only a guide- if you get too many stitches on 10cm, take a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10cm, take a smaller needle size.
ACTUAL MEASUREMENTS AFTER WASHING:
(The knitted fabric is stretchy).
To Fit: S/M (33 - 36in bust), M/L (36 - 38in bust).
Dress flat width slightly stretched (just below the armhole)- 44(48) cm (171⁄2 - 19) ins.
Dress length (from top of the neckline)- 97(100) cm 38(391⁄2) ins.
Sleeve flat width (just below the armhole)- 14(15) cm 51⁄2(6) ins.
Sleeve length (from top of the neckline)- 31(33) cm 121⁄4(13) ins.

The dress fit: It is designed with 3” of negative ease. The yoke and down to body ribbing is designed to provide stretch and shape to the upper part of dress. Dress flat width measurement in the pattern is taken dress being measured flat and not stretched.

The example: The dress in the pictures is 35” size and is shown on myself with a 38” high bust measurement. It nicely sits on S/M size body.
