For a sock to fit properly, it must be slightly smaller than your foot. When a garment or accessory fits snugly like this, it is said to have “negative ease.” All that means is that the measurements of the finished garment are slightly smaller than the measurements of the body the garment is meant to fit. The amount of negative ease you need for your socks will be different depending on what type of pattern stitch you are using.
