This versatile top is knit from side to side in a beautiful lace-wave pattern. Then the piece is turned and the upper ribbing stitches are picked up and knit.

Knitters have a choice of length of top as well as sleeve style and length. If ribbed sleeve is chosen, stitches are picked up along armhole edge after seaming shoulder, and then knit in a twisted stitch rib.

If the Wavy sleeve is selected, it may be knit in one of three lengths, and is knit sideways and then sewn on.

The finished sizes range from 30”-66”/76-167.5 cm bust, (suggested positive ease of 2-4 in/5-10cm) and can be knit with any DK yarn I’ve used cotton/linen/bamboo blends as well as merino/silk.

This pattern is only recommended for knitters who are very comfortable following either charts or written directions for lace knitting, as the lace pattern may be a bit tricky to follow.

Please note that the gauge listed above is a bit misleading. Gauge is measured by knitting the 25 st x 22 row wave pattern and then turning the swatch to measure the (roughly) triangular wave which appears in the lace. (This is the view of the wave as worn. Not as knit) . After blocking, the width of that wave should measure approximately 3 in/7.5 cm, and the height should be approximately 2.25 in/5-6 cm.

Amounts of yarn required vary depending on whether you use a thinner or thicker DK yarn (thicker requires more yardage). I give yardage for three difference weights used as samples. Also, Cropped vs. Longer tops have different amounts. Sleeve lengths do not affect quantity by a lot, but quidelines are suggested.
