The Ridge Mug Sweater was written to be a simple, textured mug sweater to keep mugs looking cute while also keeping them from being too hot to the touch.

To use, simply slip your coffee mug into the hole, letting your handle rest in the open side of the sweater. Secure your coffee mug with the iCord, lifting it over the handle and securing it to the button on the other side of your mug sweater.

Being a quick project, these mug sweaters are perfect for craft fairs and last-minute gifts this season. Photos have been included for some of the trickier parts of this pattern, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be making these in no time!

Additional materials needed include:

  • ~1” button (I used a smaller size for the small size)
  • Thin tapestry needle for sewing in ends and securing the button
  • Scissors (as always)

Yardages per size:

  • Small: ~31 yards of yarn
  • Large: ~35 yards of yarn

Because of the small number of yards needed per mug sweater, they’re also perfect stash busters!

Approximate size info:

  • Small: Fits an approximately 10.5″ circumference, 4″ tall coffee mug.
  • Large: Fits an approximately 11″ circumference, 4.5″ tall coffee mug

There is about an inch of room left over from the total mug sizes these are made for to avoid fuzzies and yarn in the area where you take sips from - nothing worse than coffee and fuzzies!

Happy Fall!
