This pattern came into being for several reasons, not the least of which was my desire to support an amazing organization here in my adopted home of Northampton, MA. Safe Passage has been helping survivors of domestic violence and their children since 1977 by offering them hope, support and resources as they heal and rebuild their lives. Since joining the team at WEBS, I have learned so much about Safe Passage and how they continue to do the work they do. The Hot Chocolate Run, which takes place here in Noho every December, is their main fund raising event of the year. I have created a little something with two sticks and some string in the hope of supporting this excellent organization. All the proceeds from this pattern, until December 2nd, 2016, will go directly to Safe Passage.

This hat and mitts are fun, and easy to knit - perfect for quick gift knitting!! The hat may be worn with or without a brim. The mitts are meant to be worn with negative ease - for example, I wear a large women’s glove but am quite comfortable in the smallest size of these mitts. Vally Yarns Superwash Worsted is soft and springy - and best of all, it’s machine washable!!

Thank you in advance for helping me to support this wonderful charity, and as always, happy knitting!!
