Ridges is a ridged bobble hat with a folded brim knit in the round with two strands held together. It is a simple project that creates a satisfyingly squishy and stretchy hat that will keep you warm on those cold days.
Tools required
Needles:

  • 4mm / US 6 double-pointed needles OR needles size as required to achieve gauge
  • Optional 4mm / US 6 circular needles (40cm / 16 inch length)
  • Optional 4mm / US 6 circular needles (80 cm / 30 inch length or longer), for magic loop

Other tools:

  • Tapestry needle
  • 1 stitch marker
  • Pom-pom maker or cardboard (if making a bobble)

Yarn
The pattern uses two strands of DK / Light Worsted / 3 held together. This is roughly equivalent to Aran / Worsted / 4. The sample was knit in Red Heart Unforgettable (Candied).

The following yardage information is for 2 strands held together:

  • 422 (469, 516) metres / 465 (517, 569) yards (with bobble), ~ 311 (346, 380) meters / 343 (381, 419) yards (without bobble)
  • Yarn amounts with and without the bobble are provided to allow estimation for a different sized bobble.
  • Note: This is an estimate and will differ between knitters based on gauge / tension.
  • The yardage requirements will differ depending on the number of strands used. For example, the use of a single strand will require approximately half the yardage, while 3 strands will be approximately 1.5 times.
