Millicent Fawcett was a British suffragist and feminist who played a key role in securing women’s right to vote in the United Kingdom. She was a woman of great conviction and dedication who tirelessly fought for equality at a time when women’s rights were not recognized. She was known for her leadership as the head of the National Union of Women’s Suffrage Societies (NUWSS), which worked to promote women’s suffrage through peaceful and non-violent means. Her efforts were instrumental in the passage of the Representation of the People Act 1918, which granted women over the age of 30 the right to vote. Her advocacy did not stop there, as she continued to campaign for women’s rights until her death in 1929. Her achievements were so significant that she became the first woman to be commemorated with a statue in Parliament Square in London, a testament to her lasting legacy and the impact of her work.

Yarn: For the yarn, I suggest a similar yarn to Knit Picks Stroll Tonal hand-painted, which is a squishy fingering weight that is 75% Merino and 25% Nylon. It comes in 100g for 462 yards. Knit Picks Stroll and Lolo Did It Everyday Sock are similar yarns. You’ll need 100g.

Suggested Yarns: Tonal, semi-solid, solid, and lightly variegated.
