In these socks, 1/1 cables travel across knit-4 ribs, giving the appearance of 2/2 cables without the draw-in. All of the cables cross in the same direction in these socks, but you could work all right-leaning crosses on one sock (as shown {in the book}) and all left-leaning crosses on the other.
