The Rika Beanie was designed as part of the Cancer Cozy Comfort FB Hop, organised by the Crochet Designer Communinty on FB. For anyone going through Cancer treatment, with all the rounds of hospitals and doctors, I am sure they long to be back home. The name Rika is the Japanese word for ‘scent of home’. The name is also derived from the names of two people who are so close to me, that I consider them an extension of myself. They have both fought this dreaded disease with courage and strength. And this is a tribute to them.

The pattern was designed with an Indian Yarn, Hobby Store DK yarn. This used approx 140mts for the M and 190 mts for the L. However, with Katia Merino it only used 100 mts for the L.
Once you meet the gauge, any DK yarn and corresponding hook will work.

The instructions also include a modification to make a Ear Warmer.
