The Ring Wraith cowl is a squishy, aran weight knit to help keep your neck warm with just a hint of attitude.

The Ring Wraith cowl is knit first in the round then flat for the slit for the shoulder. It is knit with simple increases and a detail made with extra wraps.

Knit in garter with aran weight superwash wool, the cowl will grow with its first wash. Make sure to take this into account when knitting. Your work will appear smaller on the needles.

If choosing a non-superwash substitute, change your needle size accordingly to meet washed gauge. Swatching is your friend!

This is a written pattern. I choose a large print to make reading the pattern easier.

Knit sample used approximately 253 yards/232 m or 139g of Hedgehog Fibres Merino Aran in the Salty Tales colorway.
Note: some test knitters used around 280 yards.

For the neck of the cowl, a 16” circular works well; but you can go up in needle length when working flat.
