Ripple Lace Scarf Pattern.

This simple scarf uses a variation of the feather and fan stitch, or old shale stitch - a basic rippling lace created using decreases and yarn overs. It’s ideal for beginners just exploring lace for the first time, or makes great TV knitting for the more experienced knitter!

The yarn I’ve used for this is not commercially available as it is non-branded. However, the owner of my LYS (local yarn store) has said she’d be more than happy to do online sales so if you’d like to use the same yarn as me, you can contact her at https://www.facebook.com/hopstitchandjumper I love the sheen to this yarn and it’s super soft, despite being 100% acrylic. What I will say is that it has a slight halo to it, which adds to the romance, but can make it a little tricky if you need to tink back a few stitches so just be patient.
Any DK yarn would work just as well - although if you’re using a self-striping yarn, you may want to experiment with how many stitches you cast on. I found that for this particular yarn, the number of stitches I’ve used works perfectly. If you do want to amend the stitch count, I’ve included details of how to do so in the pattern itself.

Yarn: DK weight. Approx 250g (yardage varies according to the yarn you choose: I got over 3ft from 1x90g ball of this yarn)
Needles: 3.25ml
