Riptide Shore Leave is the sister sweater to the Riptide Tee. It is a perfect year-round drop shoulder sweater. The Riptide stitch pattern is seamlessly integrated into the soft, rounded V-neck that merges at a perfect depth and flows into the body to carry the Riptide stitch pattern via a central panel to the hem.
The Riptide stitch pattern, echoed in the deep cuffs of the sleeves and hem, anchors this oversized free-moving sweater. Wear it solely or layer over a favourite shirt.
CONSTRUCTION NOTES:
Riptide Shore Leave is worked in one seamless piece from the top down. Commencing with the back, the neck and shoulders are shaped using German Short Rows, and then the back is worked flat to the underarm. Front shoulder stitches are then picked up from the back cast on edge and the front is worked flat to the same back length. The front and back are then joined for working in the round.
The body can be worked straight, or there is a waist-shaping option. There are two hem options: a simple garter edging or the Riptide stitch pattern and garter finish.
Finally, the sleeves, which are slim fitting, are worked from armhole to cuff. If you wish to have more positive ease in the sleeves, work the upper front and back longer before joining the Front and Back. It is recommended that you choose the next size up or whichever size gives you the amount of ease you require. It is important that you work the sleeves for the matching size. For example, you cast on Size 2 but want more armhole depth/ more positive ease in the sleeve, choose Size 3 armhole depth, and then work Size 3 Sleeves. More yarn will be required.
