This scarf is an inspired, grown up version of the colorful rick rack trimming once used to brighten the skirts and blouses of little girls. Translating rick rack into knitted lace intensifies the subtle texture of the woven trim.

Starting with a provisional cast on, the Rique Raque Scarf is knit flat, with an applied eyelet edging at the cast on and bind off edges. Blocking the finished piece creates lightly zigzagged edges all around, echoing the main motif of the center section.

This pattern is fully charted.
