The inspiration for the scarf is from stitch patterns in the Japanese book Knitting Patterns Book 300. There are several stitch patterns that create curving sections of knit stitches by separating yarnovers and matching decrease stitches with several plain knit stitches.

Reversible fabrics have been inspiring my knitting of late, and using the above technique with ribbing creates a “winding river of ribs“ fabric that looks great on both sides.

On the left is also a photo of the reverse side of the scarf. With a width of 10” the scarf can also be worn as a light shoulder wrap with with a decorative pin.

Samples shown in Shelridge Yarns Classic DK (aka Soft Touch DKW) –Moss.
