This bag is worked from the bottom up and incorporates a pinwheel motif for added colour and detail. The bag is then felted in a washing machine before the handles are sewn on.

Pattern is written in US crochet terminology.

Gauge: specific gauge is not required, however you are looking to achieve a relatively dense and firm fabric which is not too open.

Approximate finished dimensions (not including handles): Height – 10inches / 25cm, Depth – 7inches / 18cm, Width – 13inches / 32cm.

Machine felting can vary from machine to machine so these measurements are approximate.

Tools:

6mm (size J) hook or hook needed to obtain desired gauge.
Sewing needle.
Tapestry or wool needle
2 Locking Stitch markers.
Pillowcase.
6 safety pins.
Washing machine!

Materials:

A total of 594yds / 539m Super Bulky Yarn that is suitable for machine felting.

Colour A (main colour) - 270yds / 245m
Colour B (stripe 1) - 108yds / 98m
Colour C (stripe 2) - 108yds / 98m
Colour D (stripe 3) - 108yds / 98m

Sew on bag straps approx. 20 inches / 51cm long or desired length.

Strong sewing thread to match handle colour such as “Gutermann Top Stitch Heavy Duty Polyester Thread”.

Difficulty: intermediate - single crochet, double crochet, working in the round, increasing and decreasing (instructions given), basic sewing skills (attaching the handle).
