This is a simple and easy to follow pattern, ideal for an Intermediate ability knitter, or a beginner looking for a moderate challenge.

Knitted on straight 3.5mm and 4mm needles this knitted hat pattern is simple and easy to follow using basic knitting skills, simple Intarsia colour work and some small hand sewn details.

The pattern offers multiple different size options; premie, tiny baby, newborn, 1 month, 3 months, 1 year and 3 years; ensuring a pattern is available no matter the size of the little one.

The yarn amounts are rounded up and will be more than enough to complete whichever size of hat you choose.

Gauge: 6st x 9 rows on 4mm needle

• 100g skein DK weight brown yarn
• 50g skein DK weight red yarn
• Scraps of white for the eyes
• Scraps of black for the eyes
• Approx 30 inches tan/ beige/ yellow for the beak

Requires the following skills: Cast on, Knit, Purl and Knit two together decrease, Intarsia colour work, basic sewing skills.

All pieces are knitted flat on straight needles and have been cast on using the ‘long tail’ method. The seam has been sewn using a mattress stitch.
