Knit a hood on the same geometric lines as the other Rock Salt designs! This is a puzzle construction, which makes an engaging project and a great finished piece. The pattern is probably a little bit overpacked with photos and diagrams to help you keep your place or explore an unfamiliar concept.

One size fits most, and it is very cute.

(It might go without saying, but this kind of multi-directional knit works great with handspun yarns, specialty yarns like Noro, or long, slow color gradients like those shown in the Kroy Socks FX sample.)

Materials:

• 415-450 yards of heavy sock or light sport yarn; main sample shown in Patons Kroy Socks FX in Cascade and took almost exactly 415 yards to knit
• 1 48” circular needles in US4/3.5mm, or size needed for gauge
• tapestry needle for weaving in ends
• 4+ removable stitch markers
• 5-6 buttons, ½-⅝“

Note about materials: a pretty heavy sock yarn or light sportweight will work best for this. Kroy Socks FX looks amazing with the puzzle design of the hoodie, but some wearers will definitely want something softer in a piece like this.

Gauge:
Gauge is 22 sts and 48 rows over 4”/10cm of garter stitch, worked flat and blocked lightly.

Measurements:
One size fits most! It’s hard to imagine it not fitting all—there’s a lot of room for hair—but I’m sure there are outliers.
