Rodolphe Top
Knitting Pattern for a Fitted, Sleeveless Crop Top with a Delicate Lace Pattern and a Classic Round Neck in Sizes XS | S | M (L | XL | 2XL) 3XL | 4XL | 5XL
Structure:
The top is worked from the top down in a lace pattern in one piece. First, the back section is knitted flat in the lace pattern up to the armholes, including increases to shape the armholes. The front sections are then worked separately from each other and knitted directly onto the back section in rows, continuing in the lace pattern. To shape the round neckline, additional increases are made after the first stitch and before the last stitch of a right-side row. Once the round neckline has been closed, the front is worked in reverse to the back section up to the armholes, using the same increases to shape the armholes. The stitches from the front and back sections are then joined to complete the body in the round. Depending on your size, additional stitches may be cast on under the arms for an extra pattern repeat—or not. The body is then finished in the round in the lace pattern and completed with a double stockinette stitch hem. Next, stitches are picked up along the armholes, and the same hem isworked to neatly finish the edges. Finally, stitches are picked up along the round neckline, where a matching double stockinette stitch trim is also worked. The fit of the top is designed to be close-fitting, with negative ease of 0 to 10 cm. This allows the lace pattern to stand out beautifully while accentuating the body’s natural curves. However, the top can also be worn with positive ease within a similar range (0 to a maximum of 10 cm // 0 to 3.9 in) for a lighter, more relaxed summer look. The yarn—Cotton Merino—is particularly comfortable to wear in summer, and thanks to the lace pattern, this knitted summer top remains very breathable even on the hottest days of the year.
