Roli is a simple hat with a slightly rolled edge, a gathered crown and a little slouch. It is knit in the round on a circular needle and cinched/gathered at the top for a quick and easy finish.

A great beginner project and quicker to knit than a scarf! It only uses the knit stitch, with no increasing, decreasing, or seaming together at the end.

A simple gift knit, or a soft cosy hat for yourself, perhaps in a colour to go with your favourite winter coat.

Video Tutorials
The pattern includes video tutorials for techniques such as casting on, knitting in the round, cinching the top of your hat, weaving in ends and blocking your finished hat for a professional result.

I hope these videos will support you in getting started and assist you along the way. Sometimes just watching a technique can make it so much clearer.

Materials
The large adult size uses 1 x 50g skein of Myak baby yak medium (114m/125yards). All other sizes use less than that.

5mm circular needle (16” or 40cm length) for large adult, adult, child/teen, small child sizes.

For newborn and baby sizes use a 12”/30cm length circular needle or a longer circular needle (80-100cm) with “magic loop” technique.

Gauge
17.5 stitches/10cm (4 inches) before blocking (from a swatch that has been knit in the round)
16 stitches /10cm (4 inches) after wet blocking
