Sizing- When choosing a size, be sure to measure the chest circumference of the child then add 6”- 10”/ 15 - 25 cm. The sizes are listed by age range, but children can range in size across all ages so its best practice to go off their measurements.

Gauge- 19 stitches by 28 rows in stockinette on a US 8/ 5 mm needle or needle size needed to meet gauge in 4”x 4”/ 10 x 10 cm

Construction-
This is a raglan style sweater that is worked top down. First the collar is knit in stockinette to create the rolled neckline, then German short rows are worked to shape the neckline. The raglan increases continue to create the yoke. Additional rows are knit in the back before splitting for the sleeves to raise the back. You’ll then knit the body and then the sleeves. The cuffs and body are finished with 3x1 ribbing with a rolled hem to complement the raglan details and the rolled collar.

Materials:

Needles-
5 mm (US 8) 16”/ 40 cm circular needle, 24”/ 60 cm circular needle, or size needed for gauge. Used for the body and sleeves
4 mm (US 6) 24”/ 60 cm circular needle, or two US sizes smaller than gauge needle. Used for body and cuff ribbing (using magic loop for the cuff)

Yarn- Cascade 220 Superwash Merino (100% superwash wool, worsted weight) 220 yards (201 meters)/ 100g held single. 2 (3) 3 (3) 3 (4) 4 (5) skeins or 385 (458) 517 (580) 635 (722) 777 (880) yards /353 (419) 473 (531) 598 (661) 711 (804) meters of worsted weight wool.

Other- Tapestry Needle, Measuring tape, stitch markers- one unique BOR marker, 8 for raglan increases and up to 14 removable markers for sleeve decreases

Techniques used-
Long tail cast on, knitting in the round, German short row shaping, M1R/M1L increases, backwards loop cast on, SSK/K2TOG decreases, picking up stitches, resting stitches on a cable and 3x1 ribbing.
