Sizing- The Rolled Raglan is designed to be worn oversized, based on your personal preference of positive ease. Choose a size based on how oversized you’d prefer, ideally 8 - 15”/ 20 - 37.5 cm of ease. The sample is a size 3 and is worn with 14”/ 35 cm of positive ease.

Gauge-
16 stitches x 24 rows in stockinette on 5.5 mm (US 9) needle or needle size needed to meet gauge in 4”x 4”/ 10 cm

Construction- This is a raglan style sweater that is worked top down. First the collar is knit in stockinette to create the rolled neckline, then German short rows are worked to shape the neckline. The raglan increases continue to create the yoke. Additional rows are knit in the back before splitting for the sleeves to raise the back. You’ll then knit the body and then the sleeves. The cuffs and body are finished with 3x1 ribbing with a rolled hem to complement the raglan details and the rolled collar.

Materials:

Needles-
5.5 mm (US 9) 20”/ 50 cm circular needle, 32”/ 80 cm circular needle, or size needed for gauge. Used for the body and sleeves

4.5 mm (US 7) 32”/ 80 cm circular needle, or two US sizes smaller than gauge needle. Used for body and cuff ribbing (using magic loop for the cuff)

Yarn-
When choosing yarn, be sure that it not only meets gauge but that results in a dense structured fabric.

The wool sample is knit with De Rerum Natura Ulysse in the color Poivre

The cotton sample is knit with Lion Brand 24/7 cotton in the color Cafe au lait

The Lion Brand 24/7 cotton is mercerized which has a little sheen to it. If you’d prefer a matte finish I’d recommend either Knitpicks Dishie or Cascade Nifty cotton both held double.
