The Rolling Waves Scarf is inspired by crashing waves breaking on the beautiful beaches along the North Atlantic Coast of Northern Ireland.

The rolling waves stitch pattern is knitted with increases and corresponding decreases. Each layer of waves is emphasised by rows of garter stitch texture, which represent the rolling waves.

This scarf is designed especially for multi-shade mini-skeins, using 4-row stripes to blend shades into each other and to create a fade across the scarf.

The scarf is knitted seamlessly as a long narrow rectangle. A 4-row stitch pattern is worked throughout the main section of the scarf with a zigzag pattern created with paired increases and decreases. A contrast shade is used for every third “wave“ and the non-working yarn is carried up the side of the work when not in use.

The main stitch used in the Rolling Waves Scarf are k: knit; kfb: knit into the front and back of next st, 1 st increased; k2tog: knit next 2 sts together; p: purl; ssk: Slip next 2 sts knitwise one at a time; knit these 2 sts together through back of loops.
