Rollur sweater
Just like the mittens of the same name, the Rollur lopapeysa is an ode to the Icelandic sheep. One of the assignments I set myself when working the charts was to draw a sheep that was immediately recognizable as an Icelandic sheep and could not be confused with a goat or any other horned animal.
The Rollur lopi sweater is a unisex style with 4 sets of instructions: for both a bottom up sweater and cardigan, and a top down sweater and cardigan. It comes into a wide range of sizes from XS to 5XL. It has a rather straight forward fit with a slight A-line and short rows at the nape of the neck to raise the back. The sweater itself has two neckline options, jewel and crew neckline.
For your convenience, the colored Charts are also declined in black and white, and show the reverse colors as well.
Sizes: XS(S,M,L)XL,2XL,3XL(4XL,5XL)
Recommended fit: 10 cm / 4” of ease at bust. Add the desired ease to your bust measurements* and choose the size closest to it. For a looser fit, choose a larger size. Compare the other finished measurements to your own.
If you are very busty, you may want to measure your upper bust and add darts to the sweater.
The dark sweater and the cardigan shown in the pictures are both a size M for a 89 cm/ 35” bust. The sweater has a jewel neckline. Both the sweater and the cardigan are slightly shorter than the pattern says.
