ROM COM
Rom Com is a top-down raglan jumper that is worked in the round. It is knit in one main piece, and then the arm holes are created by separating them from the front and back onto scrap pieces of yarn to hold the stitches. The sleeves are worked in the round by picking up stitches that were previously set aside. Each hem (arms and body) is bound off with an i-cord and begins with a stockinette neckline. This pattern does not require you to turn in your work and is written from left to right.
Skill Level: Beginner
Yarn: 1 strand of any worsted weight (approx 140m/150 yd per 50g skein, 16-20 sts X 28-30 rows, 3.25mm – 3.575mm needles) For this pattern I have used 3.5 (4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7) skeins of 100% Finn Wool by Heron Crossing Farm, that I found at a county fair this past fall.
I also used scrap brown wool from a previous project for the I-cord bind-off - If you don’t have any extra yarn lying around DROPS Extra Fine Merino is a good option for the contrast bind-off
Some yarn alternatives that would work just as well are
2 (3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6) balls of DROPS lima 65% Wool, 35% Alpaca
3 (4, 4, 5, 6, 6, 7, 8) Wool and the Gang Feeling Good Stripe
70% Baby Alpaca 7% Merino 23% Recycled Nylon
1 (2, 2, 3, 4, 4, 5, 6) Malabrigo Washted 100% Superwash Merino Wool
3 (3, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7) DROPS Bomull-Lin 53% Cotton, 47% Linen
Recommended needles:
US 6 / 4 mm circular needles
US 8 / 5 mm circular needles
Tension after blocking:
10cm/4” x 10cm/4” = 19 stitches x 26 rows
