The reversible Roman Stripe stitch, featured here as an afghan square, can be adapted to many projects: hats, shawls, scarves, wraps, etc. The possibilities are endless. The original stitch was written for the knitting needles and featured in Barbara Walker’s A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns, page 219 and adapted here for the knitting looms using peg doubling for the internal increases. Also, it’s much easier to do than you might imagine.

Can be adapted to any loom, but the sample used a CinDWood 1/2” gauge round loom with a minimum of 22 pegs.

Peg doubling is used for internal increases.
