There are many joys in the world of knitting, but few compare to the joy of opening up and discovering a beautiful mini skein of yarn for 24 days in a row! The yarn advent calendar is a seasonal tradition that gives both knitter and yarn dyer/purveyor a platform for creativity. Upon experiencing my first yarn advent from the very talented Taralynn at PlayfulDayYarns I felt compelled to use every single glorious one in a single project. A search of existing projects did not yield the “perfect” one for what I had in mind. So, I dove in and made my own! The result is the Romantic Stripes Advent Blanket. It is a simple pattern that gives each skein its due in both hue and texture. It can be adapted easily to adjust both width and length, and can be used with any combination of mini skeins or remnants from your yarn stash. The simple alternating knit patterns are a joy to watch unfold and keep the project moving along!
