Last winter I knit the the Porom, a hat designed by Jared Flood. I decided that it needed to be worn with a scarf and tried to find one to knit. I couldn’t quite find the right pattern for me, so I decided to design my own. The Romberry Scarf is the result.

I knitted this pattern in a wool/silk yarn as the scarf is designed to be worn close to the skin. The wool gives warmth and the silk provides softness, sheen and drape.

The lace pattern, that forms the body of the scarf, is knit and the frill round the edge is crocheted. The lace pattern is both written out in full and charted. The crocheted frill has more body than if it were knitted, so it gently frames the neck and face when the scarf is worn.

When the scarf is complete it measures roughly 40” x 7”, depending on tension.
