A Rondelay is a simple song with a repeating refrain. Likewise, this poncho is an easy to knit, lightweight wrap with repeating stitch patterns. The “chorus” is made up of rows of garter stitch divided by “verses” of eyelet combinations and stripes of a harmonizing color, elementary enough for novice knitters, but offering pleasant diversions for those more experienced.

Sock yarn offers gorgeous colorways, but could easily be substituted by any lightweight options. Larger needles used with the lighter yarn create a beautiful drape as well as a bit of speed.

Gauge can be easily adjusted. As written, the finished project measures 35” wide (doubled) x 25” long after fairly aggressive blocking.
