Rondo is a relaxed boat-neck sweater featuring a check pattern created by two strands of thick wool mohair yarn. In the beginning, knitting in the round from the hem, working up to the underarms. Separate the front and back and flat knit to the shoulders. Both shoulders are bound off using the Three-Needle Bind-Off method while facing the right side, making the shoulder seaming one of the design points. The sleeve is worked by picking up stitches from the armhole and decreasing toward the cuff. The cropped length offers generous ease in the body, balanced perfectly with the ample sleeve length for coordinating nicely with bottoms. Additionally, due to its simple construction, it’s possible to lengthen the body and sleeve lengths to your preference.
The sample features a two-color gingham check pattern, but it’s also possible to combine multiple colors of your choice to create your own original check pattern. The gingham check pattern on the body requires careful handling of the yarn and a bit of patience, but please enjoy seeing the pattern come together as you finish it. Knitted with two strands of mohair yarn, this sweater becomes a wonderfully fluffy and warm garment.

Finished measurements

Note: Please choose the size based on the finished dimensions, with your preferred amount of ease. Both are size 3 samples with 16¼” / 41 cm positive ease on a woman who is 5’2” / 158 cm tall.

US 10½ (6.5 mm) circular needles or DPN’s.
Another needles of the same size will be needed for seaming the shoulders.

Gauge
With yarn in held double on US 10½ needles:
11.5 stitches x 17 rows to 4″ / 10 cm in stockinette stitch for the body, 12 stitches x 17 rows to 4″ / 10 cm in stockinette stitch for the sleeve.

Rondo (ロンド) は, 2本どりの糸の組み合わせでギンガムチェックを描く, ボートネックのリラックスセーターです.
裾から輪で編み始めて脇下まで進み, 前後身頃を分けてそれぞれ肩まで往復編み, 両肩は表を見ながらThree-Needle-Bind-Offの方法で綴じるので, 肩のシームもデザインポイントになります. 袖はアームホールから目を拾い, 袖口に向かって減らしながら編みます. クロップド丈の身頃のたっぷりあるゆとりと, しっかりと長さのある袖丈がボトムスとバランス良くコーディネートできます. また, シンプルな構造なので, お好みで着丈・袖丈を伸ばすことも可能です.
サンプルは2色でチェックを描いていますが, 好みの色を複数組み合わせてオリジナルのチェック模様を描くのもお薦めです. 身頃のチェック模様は, 糸の扱いに慣れるまで工夫と少しの根気が必要ですが, ギンガムチェックが並んでいく様を楽しみながら仕上げてください. 2本どりで仕上げたモヘアのセーターは, ふかふかとしてとても暖かいウェアになります.
