Give your hands an extra bit of warmth on especially cold days with these textured mitts. Their long length and wrist-hugging ribbing make them ideal for under-heated offices, as well as an underlayer to bridge the gap between too-short coat jackets and mittens.

The repetitive ribbed lace pattern is easily memorized and soothing to work. It produces a checkered fabric reminiscent of both a chessboard and stone castle walls, which gives these mitts their name.

When worked up in an inexpensive superwash sock yarn, these mitts can be gifted without worry.
