INSPIRATION for this scarf: My daughter Karissa (nickname, Rissy Roo) went to live in Finland for 18 months. Because it gets so cold there, I wanted to knit her a really warm scarf. As I looked at different possibilities, I came across the linen stitch and it has worked out to be the perfect scarf because it is very dense and doesn’t let the cold air through. After more searching, I found that many knitters in Finland like to use merino wool because of its warmth and because it keeps you warm even when it gets damp or wet. After knitting this scarf for Karissa and seeing how nicely it would keep the cold wind out, I decided I needed one for when I buzz around town on my scooter. Having a scarf around my neck and over my mouth really helps so I can sneak in a few more weeks before putting my scooter to sleep for the winter. The other thing I love about this scarf is how both sides are so different and pretty. It’s like having two different scarfs. If you need a really warm scarf…..this is it!!!
