This design is about the organicity of natural forms, the imperfect perfection of what is hidden underground to grow in silence, as an anonymous contribution to Creation. This sweater reflects both the literal land and the “land” of my life. I am a person of roots; I always seek to put down roots, experience the sense of belonging to my own home, be it my country, my life story, my friends and my family, and see them grow by God’s work. I see the fruits daily, but this design is an ode to what is not seen; the rootstock that grow into what is grown.

This sweater is knitted top down in the round seamlessly, starting with a ribbing at the neckline to later form the yoke with raglan increases. Then the sleeves and the body are separated to knit the 3 pieces separately. The central motif is worked from a chart and contains basic cables and lace stitches that are easy to memorize. The rest of the garment is knitted in seed stitch, finished with ribbed cuffs and waistband.

Sizes: 1, 2, 3 (4, 5, 6) 7, 8, 9 equivalent to 93, 98, 103 (108, 112, 117) 122, 135, 145 cm of chest circumference (finished measurements) with 15 - 20 cm of positive ease. (sample shown in size 2, in a body of 84 cm of chest circumference and 15 cm of positive ease).

Gauge: 14 sts x 28 rows = 10 cm, measured over seed stitch and larger needles, after blocking.
1 repetition of the central motif (chart 2) = 22.5, 22.5, 22.5 (22.5, 22.5, 22.5) 22.5, 24.5, 24.5 cm wide x 3 cm high.

Yarn: MC (raw): approx 745, 792, 840 (886, 958, 1006) 1052, 1170, 1266 meters of DK weight yarn.
CC1 (pink): approx 35, 40, 45 (50, 55, 65) 75, 85, 95 meters of DK weight yarn.
CC2 (dark orange): approx 35, 40, 45 (50, 55, 65) 75, 85, 95 meters of DK weight yarn.

Always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

Notions: 1 stitch marker for BOR, 8 stitch markers for raglan increases, 4 stitch markers for the motif, tapestry needle, stitch holders or scrap yarn, pins and mats for blocking.

Este diseño es sobre la organicidad de las formas naturales, de la imperfecta perfección de aquello que se oculta bajo la tierra para crecer en silencio, como un aporte anónimo a la Creación. Este sweater refleja la tanto la tierra literal como la “tierra” de mi vida. Soy una persona de raíces; siempre busco echar raíces, experimentar el sentido de pertenencia al propio hogar, ya sea mi país, a mi historia de vida, a mis amigos y a mi familia -que es mi hogar- y verlas crecer por obra de Dios. Veo los frutos a diario, pero este diseño es una oda a aquello que no se ve; las raíces subterráneas que crecen en lo que se cultiva.

Este sweater se teje desde arriba hacia abajo en circular y sin costuras, comenzando por el cuello en punto elástico para posteriormente formar el canesú mediante aumentos tipo raglan. Luego se separan las mangas y el cuerpo para tejer las 3 piezas por separado. El motivo central se trabaja a partir de un gráfico y contiene cables y calados básicos y fáciles de memorizar., el resto de la prenda se teje en punto arroz. Se termina con puños y pretina en punto elástico.
