“If you’re knitting something for a child you want to make something that will actually be worn. This tank top and mittens are made in a soft merino from Rico Design, making them comfortable for sensitive skins, while the design is colourful without being garish. ‘This is a traditional top that will look great on any little boy,’ says designer Amanda Jones. ‘The design uses a simple Fair Isle mixed with a textured stitch. The yarn used is an aran weight wool with a good smooth finish, which shows off the textured stitch very well.’ The tank top is knitted in the round until the armhole shaping, so there are no bulky side seams.” pg 50, The Knitter.
