From the initial cast on, the front neckline is shaped with increases before casting on the two front panels. Raglan increases shape the sleeves and upper body. Stitches are put on hold for the sleeves and the body is worked to desired length. Forethought pockets can be inserted. Sleeves are then worked in the round. Pockets are completed.

The button and neck bands are worked last. You can opt for traditional button holes and button hole band, or doubled over thickness neck and front bands with icord button holes.

The pink sample has icord button band. The testers made their samples with traditional button bands.

A fun feature of the cardi is the illusion band on the bottom border. When you look at it head on, it looks like a solid band but when you look from the side, you can see the raised blocks. This effect is striking but very easy to achieve.
