I originally designed this simple cardigan for premature babies but have had so many requests for it in bigger sizes so here it is. Garter stitch is my favourite stitch as it’s modern yet timeless at the same time and is great for cardis that can be treasured and passed down to other babies. A simple 1 button fastening makes dressing easy and the style doesn’t bunch up dresses underneath as some cardigans do. Although I’ve made it in pink and named it Rose after the shade of yarn it looks gorgeous in other shades too. The choice is yours!

The cardigan is knit from the bottom back to the shoulders where the stitches are divided and each front is then knit separately down to the bottom. Stitches are picked up at the shoulder and knit down to the wrist so there’s only the side and underarm seam to sew.
