This beautiful baby hat is perfect for your full-term or premature newborn. The hat features delicate rosebuds that appear to be embroidered but are actually knitted into the hat as you go. It is generously shaped and features a firm yet stretchy band to keep it in place on your little one’s head.
The knitting pattern instructions include two different construction methods: knit flat and seamed; and knit seamlessly in-the-round. The rosebud pattern is fully explained and easy to knit, but a plain version of the hat is also included for absolute beginner knitters (also knitted flat or in the round).
The pattern is in 3 sizes: Full-term Newborn (33cm head circumference), Prem A (28cm) and Prem B (25cm). If knitted in pure wool the hat will stretch as baby’s head grows, to fit longer. Should it be slightly large, the firm band will keep the hat in place, but the band can also be turned back until baby’s head grows, revealing a reverse rib pattern.
Materials: One 50g ball of DK weight wool yarn, one set each of 3.25mm and 4mm knitting needles of your choice (ie, any needles can be used if the hat is knitted flat, but knitting in the round will require needles for knitting down to a small circumference – such as dpns or a long circular for the magic loop method). A tapestry needle is also required.
