Whether you dress it up or down, this is the perfect top for summer, or dressing up an outfit for holidays at any time of the year. With extended shoulders, the lace pattern drapes over the top of the arms for a feminine touch.
Work the body in the round in stockinette with waist shaping for a flattering fit, beginning with a narrow ribbed hem. Before reaching the armholes, begin working the lace pattern at the center of the front only, deceasing stitches each time a new repeat of the lace pattern is added to compensate for the change in gauge.
After dividing for the sleeves, increase a few more stitches at the armholes for sizes XS-XL only (sizes 2XL-4XL already have enough stitches for the full shoulder width). A deep shoulder slope, which is shaped using short-rows, gives this pullover a better fit without overly large armholes.
The shoulders are joined using Three-Needle Bind-Off, then the stitches for the sleeves are picked up along the armholes so the sleeves can be worked in the round to the cuff.
The neck is edged simply by the stockinette bind-off; to make sure the front neck is smooth, once the initial bind-off at the center has been worked, slip the first stitch of each subsequent bind-off row, then tighten it slightly.

Errata: When working Row 11 of Chart A, the first stitch should be an ask for the first repeat only; if you’re making one of the sizes where these 8 stitches are repeated, then on subsequent repeats, this stitch should be worked as an s2kp. Also, at the end of the chart, the last stitch at the end of Row 11 of Chart A is worked as an ssk only at the very end; earlier repeats of those 8 stitches are ended with an s2kp if that section is worked more than once.

Errata (03/2024): The round setting up the lace pattern on the front is in error. The repeat should be worked twice more (a total of 3 times); the chart is correct.
