This shawl combines an interesting stitch pattern (which is not as complicated as it appears) with a color sequence, or rather two: First, the rose shades fade out on a very light turquoise background, and in the second half, the turquoise/ teal shades fade in on a very light rose/ sand background. This keeps the shawl interesting to work, although the vertical pattern repeat consists of only 22 rows, all with the same basic repeat of 11 stitches.

Yarn & gauge
Approx. 1300-1400m of a Fingering weight yarn needed which knits up to approx. 24 sts x 40 rows in the described pattern on needle 3,25mm. You could use thicker yarn and bigger needles, but please keep in mind that you will need more yarn (unless you reduce the number of stitches or rows).

For my sample, I have used 350g Skudderia Merino Single (100% Merino, 366m/ 100g), mostly reproducible colors, plus 2 one-of-a-kind shades. The 2 background color skeins (100g each) have been used up completely (that’s why they will be called main colors MC). In addition, I have needed 6x25g for the contrast colors (CC1-CC6).

Of course, you can decide to work your shawl with one MC only, or even in two colors overall.

Ruppert Garne offers a limited number of Merino Single kits, each consisting of 2 main color skeins and 5-7 mini skeins for the contrast colors, hand-dyed by Valentina Wollante. Please select the “Farbe” (color) to see the different kits!

Measurements
My sample shawl measures approx. 220cm x 45cm, but length (and even width) can be customized easily.

You will need a multiple of 11 sts (for the pattern repeat) + 1 extra st + 1 edge st in Garter per side (for a less rolling edge, add more edge sts).
