The heroine of Grounded, Hannah Rose, has some … challenging and unpredictable talents. One of her skills that isn’t in question, though, is her knitting. For that reason, we’ve created Rosie’s FireStarters.

These socks are quick to knit with enough stockinette to make it a good, relaxed knitting project but enough patterning to keep you interested. A simple repeat of suggested flames runs breathlessly down the side of the sock creating a distinct left and right (read the notes to be sure you catch the proper placement of the heel flap for left and right).

Since Rosie is, at heart, an interesting person her sock has an interesting and unique heel and sole. The Welsh heel is a curiosity, but is extremely comfortable and long-wearing. Trust the steps and all will be well. Once your gusset decreases are complete, your arch shaping will begin, creating a seamless line down the sides of the foot and a fitted arch that hugs your sole—and won’t let go. Instructions are for a standard toe, but feel free to replace that with your favorite unique version.
