As a child, my family and I took yearly vacations to Door County, Wisconsin. Many getaways were spent at Rowleys Bay, tucked into a quiet little nook of the Door Peninsula. My brother and I spent endless mornings building campfires on the shoreline and fishing off of the pier with our dad, who would capture our imaginations with tales of sailors, shipwrecks and giant fish in the black waters of Lake Michigan.

This shawl was completed on our 2015 family vacation to Door County. I now watch my own 2 children run up and down the beach and it is me retelling the loved stories of sailors, fish and shipwrecks.

The soft, feminine “scales” in this shawl are reminiscent of those fishy tales.

Shawl calls for 2 skeins of MC (shown in Heirloom colorway)
and 2.5 skeins of CC (shown in Shimmer colorway).

There are 400 yards per skein of suggested yarn.

Notes are included for adjusting stitch counts in order to make a smaller shawl if desired.
