This pattern is for a fitted, military-style jacket in aran yarn.
The ruffled edging around the bottom is done in three pieces that are then joined so the torso can be worked as one piece.
It can be made with or without sleeves; if you opt for sleeves, they can be knitted flat or in the round.

The finished size is:

• bust: 90cm / 36in
• waist: 76cm / 30in
• hips, above ruffles: 90cm / 36in
• length, including ruffles and collar: 72cm / 28in
• underarm length, including ruffles: 47cm / 18.5in
• armhole depth: 21cm / 8in

Materials:

• main colour 1,100 (without sleeves) - 1,400m (with sleeves) aran yarn
• 100m contrast colour aran
• 12 buttons
• 5mm circular needle
• 5mm DPNs (if you want to work the sleeves in the round)
• two spare needles or stitch holders
