This pattern was specially designed for Woolly Mammoth Fibre Company’s Advent Calendar 2020: “A Rural Irish Christmas”.

For this project, color play comes at the forefront. The main pattern is purposely simple and easy to memorise so you can focus on choosing the next color for your stripe.
You can create a two-color sequence like I did for my sample or create a fade color sequence using the natural skein as a base and a variation of the same color for the stripes.

My sample makes use of very subtle color play and uses the sets of mini skeins to create muted palettes. However, contrast is one of the greatest joys of color plays! Just do your thing!

Sizes
1 (2, 3)
Foot circumference: 17.5 (20, 22.5) cm / 7 (8, 9) inches

Needles
2.75 mm / US 1.5 circular needle with a cable length of at least 80 cm / 32” for magic loop or DPNS or needle size to obtain gauge.

I didn’t use a smaller needle size for the ribbing, because the chevron repeat is purposely stretchy, but you can totally go down a needle size if necessary.

Gauge
32 sts x 40 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” ( in stockinette stitch, after blocking)
