The Rugged Edge Hat (worked in the round) is a sibling hat to the Rugged Ridge Hat (worked flat). Purchase either one and you will get both patterns.

This hat has a texture your hands and head will love. Squishy and super stretchy, the ridges are easy to knit and feel great to wear.

Two sizes - this hat is very stretchy:

  • Adult small has finished circumference of approximately 16”/ 40 cm and fits heads up to 22”/55 cm, with hat height 8.25”/ 20.5 cm
  • Adult large has finished circumference of approximately 18”/ 45 cm and fits heads up to 24.5”/ 61 cm, with hat height 9.5”/ 24 cm

Yarn: DK-weight yarn, also known as 8 ply or size 3. You will need approximately 75 (85) grams /175 (190) yards/ 160 (175) meters of main color and several yards/ meters of contrast color.

Needles and supplies: US 6/ 4.0 mm or size needed to achieve gauge. This hat is worked in the round. The sample, an adult small, was made with a 16”/ 40 cm circular needle. You will also need double-pointed needles as the stitch count decreases towards the top of the hat, or a long circular needle if you prefer using the Magic Loop method. You will also need a marker for beginning of round plus 6 (7) additional markers; tapestry needle to weave in ends.

Gauge: 22 stitches and 28 rows to 4” in stockinette stitch.
