It seems my search for all the different types of sock heels, as featured in my Turn on Your Heel Socks, is incomplete, as a friend pointed me to a Balbriggan Heel pattern. This type of heel is not reinforced during the knitting as we often do today, which sent me down a rabbit hole of “how long did pure wool socks without heel reinforcements last”, where I found this blog post. While it does add an extra step once the knitting is complete, the beauty of the Running in Heels stitch is you can use it anywhere that your socks tend to get more wear.
