Russell, my husband, is a lover of handknit socks, which is a dream for a sock knitter like myself. When I saw these two yarns from Birdstreet Yarn, I knew they had to become colourwork socks for Russell, or Rusty as his mum affectionately called him when he was little.

The Rusty Socks are knit from the cuff down with a Wrap and Turn short row heel, with two toe options; a wedge toe, and a French toe. However an alternative heel and toe can be substituted. They are knit using the magic loop method but can be adapted to suit dpns.

The pattern has full written instruction and two sets of charts, one for a longer leg and foot and another for a shorter version.
* Please note: You can add or omit rows from the last colourwork pattern on the foot to increase or decrease the length of the foot.

Size:
M 72 sts - 20 cm / 8 inch circumference
L (80 sts) - 23cm / 9 inch circumference
Foot and leg measurements can be easily adjusted for other sizes. (Guide Note: the larger stitch count is to accommodate the colourwork. The 72 stitch equates to how a 64 stitch sock would usually fit.)

Needles: 2.75 mm (US2) circular needles or dpns
2.25 mm (US1) circular needles or dpns for heel/toe
(or size needed to get gauge)
