These Rye Whiskey Mitts were so named after looking at a photo of an Irish Fisherman in an antique shop. He had thick, cabled mittens on, and the photo was labeled simply “Fisherman with Rye Whiskey”. When I was asked to design a pattern for fingerless mitts for the Yarn Along the Rockies tour, I kept thinking of that photo, and so the Rye Whiskey Mitts came to be!

Suitable for men or women, this pattern can be easily sized up or down simply by using a lighter or heavier weight yarn, or changing your needle size. Please pay close attention to gauge, as the cable pattern does not cinch up the fabric much at all.

These are a fabulous one-skein or stash-busting project for a holiday gift!

Pattern includes both written and charted instructions.

(Please note that if you received the free version during the 2014 Yarn Crawl, that version does NOT include the charted instructions)

Pattern Correction

There is an error in the pattern in the “Split Cuff” section. The Pattern should read as follows:

Row 1: ktbl, p1* Repeat to end.

Row 2: k1, ptbl* Repeat to end.
