The Saddle River Baby Blanket is a great unisex baby blanket, with lots of texture!
It is a fun and enjoyable blanket pattern, for knitters who enjoy simple knits and purls, with impressive results!

Finished measurements are approx. 23” x 27” (after blocking), which is a great size for the stroller or carseat.

Although this blanket has the appearance of a patchwork, it is knit seamlessly in one piece - with no finishing required (other than weaving in your ends and blocking).
Blanket consists of seed stitch squares, alternating with stockinette stitch squares, bordered on all sides in garter stitch.

Pattern includes clearly written instructions for 2 versions of the blanket - you can choose to knit it in either worsted weight or chunky weight yarn.

For the worsted weight version, materials required include approx. 500 - 525 yds worsted weight yarn, and size 8 (24”) circular needles.
Worsted weight gauge is 4.5 stitches = 1” in stockinette stitch.
Worsted weight sample was knit using 3 skeins of Berroco Vintage, color #5136 (Bird’s Egg).

For the chunky weight version, materials required include approx. 375 - 400 yds chunky weight yarn and size 10.5 (24”) circular needles.
Chunky weight gauge is 3.5 stitches = 1” in stockinette stitch.
Chunky weight sample was knit using 3 skeins of Berroco Vintage Chunky, color #6122 (Banana).

Change needle size as necessary, to achieve correct gauge and/or a fabric that you like.
Since this is a blanket, exact gauge is not critical. It will, however, affect the finished size and amount of yarn used.

Skills required are casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off.
Some experience with textured stitches (knits and purls) will be helpful.

Enjoy knitting this pattern, and please post photos of your finished blankets!
