This crescent shaped shawl is worked in one piece from the top down. The body is shaped using short rows. The lace edging is then worked last. Beads are optional and may be omitted. The shawl is completed with a crochet bindoff, which can also be done with knitting needles. Instructions for both methods are included.

The shawl can be enlarged by working additional repeats of Chart 2.

The lace portions are charted.

Sagae is a wonderful large vase-shaped blue green hosta with creamy margins on the leaves. It is a long established cultivar, originally from Japan. The shape of the leaves inspired this shawl. It is a staple in our garden.
