Saint Petersburg Stole is a rectangular shawl. It is very simple, and knitted top down without any edges. There 500 rows of 100 sts knitted mostly in stockinette sts.

Finished Measurements depends on how loosely you knit and yarn weight. Here is average measurements:
67”/170 cm length.
20”/50 cm width.

Gauge:
19 sts x 29 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Stockinette st., after blocking. Gauge is not crucial, it helps you to calculate the size of the whole wrap.
Pattern includes instructions for blocking stole using wire.

Approximate Hours to Complete: 20-30

Needed tools and materials:

  • YARN: 100% wool, 100% alpaca, kid mohair or super kid mohair yarn (yardage not thicker than 315” (800 m)/100 gr) - 315”-345” (800-900) meters
  • For knitting: US 1 (2.5 mm) or other size circular needles (32”/80 cm long) to obtain gauge. The looser you knit the smaller needle size you might need.
  • For CO and BO: C (2.5 or 2.75 mm) crochet hook or other size
  • For blocking: pins and wire.

Needed skills:

  1. Chain CO AKA Crochet CO and Chain BO
  2. Knitting two and three stitches together (right-slanting and left-slanting)
  3. Knitting nupps (pattern includes knitting nupps instructions)

I made several videos demostrating chain CO and knitting nupps.

Whole pattern is charted, so you will need to count carefully all knitted rows.
